With a full port and polish along with CNC work and larger valves you can get a set of E7's to flow much better than stock GT-40s. About 220cfm to 185cfm.

I also read gtsr515 as saying GT-40 heads would give you 8 tenths. I agree you could pick up 8 tenths with a GT-40 head/intake package with some 1.7's on the stock cam and a couple other little mods. Then again, for $200 less, you could do close to that with ported E7s.

I would spend my money on new heads rather than porting too, though.

well considering my cast gt40 not p's,, flowed 190/140
fresh off a 93 cobra, was that to equal to my ported e7's
just by switching to a chevy intake valve of same deminsion
1.84,, flow increased to 2.07 on the intake for a mere 50.00
i agree, that the e7's are a waste of money compared to other
head options out there these days,, i for one have run mid 12's @108 with the ported e7's,, just by switcing to the gt40,, 1st run netted 12.21 @111,, and ended up with a best of 12.04, done all with the stock cam,, and cobra intake, that was 2 yrs ago.

Say you port the E7s. What happens when you want to go a little faster...you're stuck with the E7s you just spent money on.

If you save a little more for the aftermarket heads, you'll have a better foundation for future upgrades.

Porting stock heads was popular when there were few options available. Ford guys used to search junkyards for 69 or 70 Windsor 4bbl heads, or if you had the cash you converted to Cleveland heads.

Nowadays, there are so many aftermarket heads at reasonable prices, it's hard to argue against buying new heads.

I bought an extremely ported and polished set of E7's for 192 dollars complete...

If I want to go faster I will sell my two sets of E7's and go faster but for now they are good enough for me.

In my caes it was just too good of a deal
