Default 3.73's from an Explorer?

Hey does anybody know if 3.73 ring and pinion from an 8.8 rear axle from an explorer or ranger is the same as the 8.8 in the mustang? Can get a set from the salvage yard for $30.00 with the traction lock but I think the locker will not work cause of different spline then the stock 4 lug mustang? Thanks for any input on this.

The gears are the same. The trac-lok may be for 31 spline axles. If it is sell it on e-bay, or buy 31 spline axles.

I had explorer 3.73 gears in my old 88GT.

The gears are the same, but the trac-lok is for 31 spline axles. The explorers come stock with larger axles.
