Post Where is the knock sensor at?

Where is the knock sensor located, is there even one at all? Also can anyone tell me why you make more horsepower with 87 octane? I tried to run my car with 87 on an 80* day (with cast iron heads and 14* of timing) and it didn't knock or ping (plugs were fine too), but it felt way slower. I put 93 back in and it ran much better.

There is no knock sensor, sometimes you can't hear detonation but it is still there, I was going to suggest that you might be a touch rich but if the plugs were fine then, hmm. I guess some scientific research is in order...

Cool I didn't think there was a knock sensor. It is wierd that my car ran that poor on 87 octane. I heard that running 87 octane is supposed to make more power.

I know one possibility is that my timing light could be inaccurate also. I set the timing on a friends car and another guy checked the timing and said it was 8* off. So I should look into that first.

Thanks,

Jason

Yeah I know to do that, I just think that my timing light is on its way south. Maybe it was dropped too many times.
