nned opinions please
ok, i am thinking of getting a super charger over the winter- probably used one. can you guide me as to what kind i want, and any othe partsi need to buy to have it installed. also, i have 30# injectors now that people say are killing me in power. i was thinking of going to 24#, any thoughts? i want to spend as little as possible and dont want to go too extreme with the charger. just want something that will pick me up a bunch without nitrous all the time. speaking of which i will have the 75 shot hooled up to it. thanks a lot!
jim

Re: nned opinions please
IMHO stay away from the nitrous if your're gonna 'charge it. An absolute tuning nightmare. I'm a big nitrous guy, and it's a bitch when it wants to be, I can't imagine trying to tune it with even 6 lbs of boost on top. If you want to 'charge it, great. There is tons of information out there, the same goes with nitrous. Don't mix them both until you have 1 of them HANDS DOWN figured out.
Dance with the girl you brought to the dance.

Re: nned opinions please
Hey there, Long time no talk. Keep the 30's, its in your best interest. If you SC it, the extra fuel will make your motor happy. I like the paxton SC'ers, however, if you can swing a kenny Bell, awsome.. hehehe.. There all the same, vortec, paxton, its all the same stuff.

Re: nned opinions please
Whats going to be the main use for your car?? Drag racing, or just fun on the street??
If you plan on using it mainly for the track I'd go with a centrifulgal S/C. If its gonna stick mainly to cruzin and such then go with a roots type S/C. With centrifulgal S/C's I'm a fan of the procharger P-1SC, but any of the big 3 are good (Vortec, Paxton, ATI). For the roots, Kenny Belle seems to be the one to go with. For your injectors if you're gonna add a S/C keep the 30#'s you're gonna need them. Want to take 1 sec off your 1/4 mile time, you'll need to run probably 8-10lbs of boost, give or take, and get some slicks or DR's. With stock bottom end wouldn't go past 10-12 lbs of boost. Surf the web there's tons of info on S/C's, you'll probably find more then you want to know.

Re: nned opinions please
thanks again for the info. i want to keep it a daily driver, however i have another car on the raod the same time this is on the road. i was thinking of the 8-10 paxton super charger. i was also thinking of buying a used one. what are your thoughts on buying a used one. i can save a lot of money, however will i suffer in the longevity of the charger? i have DR's on there now which helped a ton!

Re: nned opinions please
With the used supercharger's you should be ok with them. Just make sure you check for any play in the pulley and turbine, both front to back and side to side. That could give you a sign of whether the bearings are gone or not.
I personally wouldn't buy a used one unless I knew the person, just cuz of the amount of $$ being spent, but thats just me. That and I like having a warranty incase it flies apart or something. Just remember with the used stuff its buyer beware with a tail light warranty.
