Default T5 Conversion - Speedometer cable

I am in process of doing a conversio from automatic to a T5. Unless I am mistaken, it seems that the speedometer cable goes through the firewall in the spot where the clutch cable needs to go. Is this right? What am I missing? The car is a 93 GT.
Thanks

Ahhhh, no. Clutch cable comes out much lower and towards the center of the car. Have your clutch pedal installed yet? You'll see EXACTLY where it needs to be.

I put the pedal assembly in tonight but not the cable. The curved piece on the right of the assembly holds the cable. There is a hole in the firewall right behind it that has the speedometer cable through it. As a matter of fact, right now the speedometer cable rubs on the clutch cable guide. Do you think there could be another hole below this one that I missed? Do you typically have to drill the hole, or should it already be there?
Thanks

I believe the hole is already there. I have a picture to show you where the clutch cable is supposed to come out. You can see the firewall adjuster, pretty good. It is still a shitty pic, though. This car was born a 4 cylinder but, as you can see, it has a 302 in it. It is an 89LX

Thanks for the picture. That seems to be the exact place the speedometer cable is. Maybe a previous owner moved it? So I guess my next question is... Where does your speedometer cable come through the firewall? I did see another plugged hole in the firewall on my car a couple of inches to the left of the one you are showing (towards the center). Could this be where the speedometer cable should be? It seems pretty hard to access under the dash.

Thanks again

Your clutch cable sounds like it's in the right spot then. Speedo cable comes out HIGHER and to the left (towards center of car) of the clutch cable. Sounds like someone moved it on ya. Look at this pic (MY GAWD was my engine compartment UGLY back then! YUK!)

Anyways, the BLUE cable is the clutch. Black is the throttle cable, and the Gray one is the speedo. Throttle & Speedo come out on the flattened spot that starts the tranny tunnel.

Exactly right, on an auto car, the speedometer cable came through the firewall where the clutch cable needs to be. You'll have to remove the plug above and slightly to the driver's side and re-route the speedometer cable there so that you can place the clutch cable where it should be. The auto speedometer cable is longer than the T5 cable. It'll work, but its well worth the $22 to go get a T5 cable when doing the switch. It'll keep it from binding and last much longer.

THis makes sense now. Did you mean the hole is to the passengers side, not drivers side?

Thanks again

Just for kicks, I changed my picture. The white arrow shows the speedo cable on a 5 speed car.
