Post Holly Systemax II Kit -Anyone running this kit??

Hey guys I'm looking at an 87 Mustang LX, and the guy is selling a Systemax II kit with the car seperately, for 1500, would it be worth to get the kit??? its the heads intake etc. I've heard Holleys kit is good for 300+ horses but i want a opinion from someone running the combo Thanks

Thumbs up

I ran the kit with the non-emissions cam and my first set of heads were bad and went a best of 12.6 @ 108mph.

With the newer style heads 2.02 x 1.60 and the AFM N-61 cam I have went 12.16 @ 113.5mph, I am only running 3:73's and the cam is ground for 4:30-4:56 gears so it has a lot left. Should go 11's since I just added the 30# injectors hoping to get to the track soon, with the 4:30's it should go mid 11's @ 116+.
Do a search on Holley and you will see all the numerous replies I have done about the kit.

Bottom line is it is worth the money in my opinion. What heads does your buddies kit have....Holley has had issues with the first design although they do not admit it. If you have any specific questions e-mail me at Rick91GT@onemain.com

It is the later style according to him, the box says 99 so i dunno who to believe, but visually is there a difference?? The times you guys are giving me sound great, the car i'm getting has a 5 speed and 3.73s already, maybe the extra 1500 wouldnt be too bad. Thanks for your help guys, anyone else?

I have been looking at the SystemMax kit for my 89. From what I have read and heard, the kit makes pretty good power.

Take the part number of the heads of the guys kit this will tell you what it has the 1.94 valves or the newer 2.02 valves PT#300-575. Either way I think the $1500 is a good deal for the entire kit I would just suggest getting a different cam...custom is the best
Good Luck with your car.

Got the heads sitting under my bed still in the box . Been there for half a year. They are the heads from the 300-501 kit. Maybe looking to sell them. They look very well assembled and you should love them MIGHT not even want to put them on just hang em somewhere in the living room since they are so shinny .

Anyone had any oil consumption problems with the setup. I too, have been looking at getting the kit. I know of the problem with the old heads, but i was also told by a few people with the kit that it will eat oil even if installed perfectly.

Due to the design of where the PCV attaches to the Holley vac tree it did pull oil into my intkae and TB. I found that moving the PCV vaccum to the intake tube fully solved this and it still pulls vacum like a normal motor should but it will not puddle or pull oil anymore.

If anyone is having this problem send me a e-mail and I'll send you the pics of what I did to solve it

I just took my Holley heads off & they were burning oil like crazy. I read in an article that they have a design flaw just like Trickflow had back in the days.
