Default starter problem

WHen the weather is hot and I go for a drive and make a stop, I find the car is struggling to start. The battery is fine and the starter is 2 yrs old. We think that it might be b/c the starter is getting too hot from the engine. Has anyone else had the same problem and how did you remedy this? Problem is even worse on ahot summer day.

Mine always does that. Headers in close proximity to the starter just makes it worse. I use AutoZone Duralast starters with the lifetime waranty. They last me about 2 years. They always give me a new one though so all I'm out is the labor which doesn't amount to much.

I'm sure you can get better starters which last longer. I guess I'm just too much of a cheapskate as long as they will continue to give me new ones under that warranty. I think I paid $30 for the first one about 10 years ago. I must be on number 4 or 5 by now, LOL.

Get a insulator blanket for the starter. I see them in some of the catalogs, Jegs, Summit, etc.

Try one of them to see if it will keep some of the heat away from the starter.

the weird thing is that my engine is stock and I have stock headers. Started having this problem the last couple of summers.

I had a similar starting problem. It ended up being that the wires going from the battery to the other places needed replacing. They were somewhat corroded on the inside, and the heat only made it worse. Heating up a wire reduces its conductivity.
