Default kirban adjust fuel pressure regulator

i recently put an kirban adjustable fuel pressure regulator on my stock 89 gt. only mods are exhaust, x pipe, hooker shorties, roller rockers, gears, 65mm throttle body. what is the proper setting for my regulator, and do i set it with the vacuum line connected. the pamphlet suggests running slightly under stock (43 psi), but i wasn't sure if this was with or without the line connected. when i set it at 42 without vacuum connected the car smelled like i was burning something. when i set it at 42 with vacuum connected it seems as if i'm running to rich. right now i have it set at 40 psi with vacuum connected and it seemed to get rid of the stumble, but i am in fear of washing out my rings. any help would be greatly appreciated. let me know if you need any more info.

ps still haven't installed the ecam waiting for my heads and intake, contemplating cobra intake and either gt40 cast heads or trickflow 1.94 intake, 1.60 exhaust

You set your FPR with the vacumm line off. Giving your combo, I would try leaning it aout a little bit at first (37) then increase it. You need to do this at the track, you will not feel the difference on the street.
