The AFR's are excellent, expensive, and pre ported. The TFS Street heads, flow very well, are cheap, and unported. The GT40X I have yet to see make outstanding numbers on any car.

I can get a good deal on the GT40X heads. I could probably get a set for around $900.00 and port them. Im looking for a minumum of 400 hp though.

Like I said, almost any of the aftermarket heads will put you in the 400's. I had a set of Windsor jr's on my 347 and they took me to a 11.8 @116mph. All they had was a gasket match and some exhaust work that I did myself, and the jr's are fore street stangs not race cars. I don't know anyone with the gt40x's but I do know FMS sells a 302 long block with them on there and it makes 345 out of the box. I'm sure if you had them ported you would be at 400 easy with a 347.

Thanks for the info guys. How much are the AFR's? The stage II TFS heads were around 2 grand. Thats getting pricey. I want to keep the price around $1500.00 tops.

I think there are some somewhat local places that do porting, with stage II around $500-650. I believe. You could buy the heads and take them there.

I paid 1700 for my afr 205's, the only thing I had to do was put pc valve seals in 'em..if you specify them I'm sure they'd put them in for you. I like the fact that they are a FINISHED head. The 5 angle valve job was actually in the right spots! (the 185's would be a good pick too if you want to save money.)

I was considering getting a set of AFR 185's and putting them on my car now untill I get the stroker finished, then swapping them over.
