what do you think abot nitrous on a 13:1 351w
got 351w .40 over stock rebuild with ported 289 heads runs on 110 fuel 13:1 c/r. had nitrous on my old engine so when i put this engine in i got the nitrous plate, wondering if i could use nitrous (50-100 shot) without messing anything up.

Nitrous loves compression. The only question is wether or not your block is built to handle it.

Yeah, but I wouldn't give it ANY more than that.

Re: what do you think abot nitrous on a 13:1 351w
Wait.....you mean you built a 13:1 engine and didn't take the time or spend the money on a set of forged pistons.....or at the VERY least....hyper pistons? That's insane dude!
That 13:1 must come from very tight combustion chambers. I don't think they make a domed, cast, piston....do they?

Re: what do you think abot nitrous on a 13:1 351w
I am sure he meant hypereutectic pistons, no way he found a domed cast piston. Yes you should be able to spray a 50-100 shot if you have a proper tune.
BTW: My Talon doesnt have forged pistons and it sees 23 psi of boost all the time. Its all in the tune.

Re: what do you think abot nitrous on a 13:1 351w
flat top the 13:1 comes from 54cc 289 heads, i wanted to see how much hp i could get out of all motor, stock, parts (i was on a tight budget) i put down 421 hp, I only was asking about the spray because it was all ready installed and i just put it all on my new engine because i didnt want to cut the wires or remove the dual purge

I seriously doubt you have 13 to 1 compression with flat top pistons.

Re: what do you think abot nitrous on a 13:1 351w
If you have a zero decked your block and have perfectly flat pistons that dont lose andy cc's from valve notching you would have 12.5 to 1 compression.
If you have stock pistons and havent zero decked your block your compression would be significantly lower.

Re: what do you think abot nitrous on a 13:1 351w
My engine is a 1969 351W. It has a 4-inch bore, .040 over. Pistons are flattop-decking 0. Heads are 1965 289’s. They have 54cc combustion chambers. They have been planed .020. They have 1.9 Intake valves and 1.5 inch exhaust valves. They have also had extensive exhaust porting. The intake ports have been port matched. They have 1.6 roller rockers. Intake Manifold is a single planed Ford Motorsport.
