273 winsor in 99 GT??
Hello all,
I bought a 99 in 02 with 12k miles on it. I thought it was regular stok 4.6L. A month ago I blew a spark plug out of the head. had it "fixxed" this month blew a second plug; took it to a good friend who just got back from the war. He took it apart and told me I had a 273 winsor with P.I. heads. I know nothing about that motor; he did tell me it was built by essix(?). does anyone know how this would find its way into a 99GT? And could someone tell me alittle about this winsor? |

Maybe he just meant the 4.6 (which works out to 280 ci) has the good heads, which I think they all had in 99. I've never heard anybody call them a Windsor before. Essex is close to Windsor so maybe he was refering to where it was built.

They are still called a widsor by ford motor company....the 99s did have P.I heads which are quite a bit better thn the ones used in previous years. The 4.6 is 281 ci not sure where he got 273 from.
The blowing sparkplug holes are "somewhat" common as in ive done a few while working for a dealership. Never seen one in a mustang all have been f-150s. Either the plugs where looose from the factory or somehow they managed to loosen up. then they just "wollow out the hole. May wanna make sure they are all torqued to spec. Luka |
