Default Temp gauge reads with lights on

My temp gauges pins when I turn on head lights (no key in ignition) when I start the car it seems to read normal but not really sure if it’s correct, has this happened to anyone else not sure if it’s the gauge, ignition switch, or a dreaded short some where, and if I take the wire off the sender it still pins when I just put the lights on

2.) engine is not running, with the lights off
3.) engine is running, with the lights on

Mine jumps about 1/4 of a peg when the lights are on. I really want to keep the interior looking stock, but I've already lost my tach and the fuel gauge refuses to top off. I agree that the stock gauges suck after years of use.

My fuel will not go to the top and the temp jumps about a needles width, with the lights on also. When I got my car, the oil gauge was very low. I put a manual gauge on it and the oil presure was great. I removed the cluster and took it apart and put the white gauge backing and a 140 speedo, reset all the gauges and they work great. I am still going to go with manual gauges in the near future. Just dont trust the factory ones and read to much bad about them on here.
