Question Which intake? Torker II or Victor jr.

I have an 84 GT with a 351w. I launch at 4000 rpm and shift at 6500 rpm. I currently have the Torker II intake on it. I am thinking of switching to the victor jr this winter, but wonder how much improvement I could expect to see? The cam specs say the rpm range is 3000 rpm to 6500 rpm.

This may not be apples to apples comparison, but I went from a Torker 289 (ported) to an RPM Air gap, and gained 3mph and .2 seconds.

I've heard nothing but negative from other sites about the Torker 2, its one of the ones you use if you have a severe hood clearance issue. Otherwise if you want single plane, go with a Vic Jr.

I wouldn't be afraid of a single plane either, the lowend power will still be acceptable (probably better than you think) and the topend tradeoffs are definitely worth it. Vic Jr. gets my vote.

So far my vote also is for the Performer RPM Air-Gap. What is your lift and numbers and duration at 50? Also what gear are you running?

without knowing your engine specifics i would say vic jr. 351w's that run in that rpm range generally respond well to that intake with a 700 dp. the torker is an ok intake for certain apps. usually on 302's. again, its hard to speculate what would work better without knowing the motor and its intended use.

I used the toker II on a 351 I put together for a guy. It ran quite well. The Vic jr always makes great top end power. Just a thought, one of the mustang mags dynoed a 393 with air gap and made over 500 hp. I don't think you can go wrong with either air gap or jr.

Thumbs up

My motor is a STOCK 302 from the head gaskets down. Up top sits a Victor Jr., and I'm running 13.0's with a 750 Holley. Bottom end torque IS much better than you think (as mentioned already) and it just keeps making power and will MPH like crazy (105!)

I'm building a 408 this winter, and it's getting a Jr as well.
Vic. Jr. definitely gets my vote!

On a side note, I went to the track this past weekend. Finally got some good cool air, and the track prep was horrible as usual for a Street Legal night.

I ran 13.1 at 105 after a 2 hour drive to the track. Let it cool, check the air pressure, and wham... 12.8 at 107.9. This is with an RPM Air Gap. I know if I had a Vic. Jr. on it, I'd pull a lot better and probably pick up a couple tenths and mph.

To go back to the original question. I would suggest the Vic Jr. because it'll do fine now, and allow for you to upgrade and not have to change intakes. If you really need a torque monster, that will pull to almost 7,000 and its on the street a lot, then the RPM Air Gap.
