Default MAF cleaning???

Does anyone out there clean the electrical components on their MAF on a regular basis or at all. Could the grime and build up from the oil on your K&N filter dirty your MAF enough to make your car like crap

When you refer to cleaning the MAF, are you talking about unscrewing the two screws on it, and taking off the cover? I have wanted to take it off, but don't know what is in there. How do I clean it?

with a q-tip and no solvents!!! careful, those wires can break easily!

I do this when I feel the car start to "surge." But the last time was last year some time, I know I used solvent before, I just can't remember if it was carb clean or injector clean. I know you "shouldn't" but it always worked for me, always a big difference after.

Well, if using a solvent like break cleaner that doesnt leave a residue doesnt hurt the components why do people say not to?

Because people are cluless. just use something that wont leave an oil residue, like carb. cleaner is supposed to have petroleum products in it.

I like to use rubbing alcohol on a q-tip.

So let me get this straight. You just unscrew the cap on the MAF and use a q-tip with a cleaner that doesn't leave residue right??? I have some electrical cleaner that is fast drying like brake cleaner... I guess that should work.
