Do I need This !
95 GT, What is that rusted piece of junk hanging from the bottom of the rear end, just below and aft of the rear universal joint ?
It's rubber mounted, can I remove it, what is it's function ??? Can anyone give me their 2c. |

That piece is a vibration damper for your rear axle assembly. It is matched to your particular rear gear size. I.E.(3.08 - 3.27) etc. I would only remove it if you change your gear ratio.

like he said, its a vibrations damper matched to your stock rear end gear ratio. its completely useless after you change your rear gears, i took mine off. it weighs about 7lbs, not a big difference, but the little things add up, as we all know.

Thanks guys for the help, it would affect unsprung weight as it is part of the rear end / wheel assy.
