Question Polish and Maintenance

I have my upper intake off. Its sanded down and ready to polish. Anyone know which polish would be best to use? Also, is there any maintenance I should do to the car while the upper intake is off? Thanks Guys!!

For polishes use tripoli, follow that with white rouge(i think i got those names right), and get a fuel resistant clearcoat on there too. You can get all of that from eastwood. There is a site that shows how to do it right, unfortunately i've never gotten the URL, I'm sure someone on here knows it! Hope it turns out nice for ya!

Summit has a product called Wenol that works really well. I used it on my polished intake and it looks great, who needs chrome.

I used the tripoli, white rouge and jewlers rouge on mine. (GT-40) You will of course need to use a buffing wheel to make it work. Make sure that the intake is as smooth as possible before starting the polishing work. If you have any deep gouges in the metal from the sand paper, it will take a lot of work to get it smooth. As far as keeping it looking good, I just wipe it down with a metal polish (flitz or wenol works really well) I have a post on the blue oval lounge with some pics of my engine compartment if you want to see how it turned out. (note: the car has been sitting since October without being cleaned so I am sure that I can get it to look better. Also, make sure that you wear safety glasses and some old clothes. The buffing compound goes everywhere!!! Good luck.

Question

Could I use wenol right after I'm done sanding? Would it look as nice as the tripoli with the buffing wheel?

Bob: no, they're two different processes. The sanding, tripoli, and buffing wheel are what help you transform your dull intake into a polished one. The Wenol is to maintain the look of your intake once you get it polished.
