more shortblock questions
Well after weeks of narrowing down between 347 vs 331 and picking a builder, and getting close to ordering a Kieth Craft 331, i've decided to do a little more investigation as to what would be the best route to go.
So this weekend I'm going to take a junk 351w block bolt on my heads and headers and see if it will fit where it needs to in my truck. So here is my questions: Does anyone know about 351 strokers? Kieth Craft offers a 357, 393, and 408 which are all the same price. Jason suggested the 408, but i was wondering about rod ratio and life. Should I just go with the 393? Any info you have would be greatlly appreciated. ------------------ Prerunner F150 with 92' Mustang 302, Aftercooled Vortech S-Trim with 2.75 10 rib pulley set, Maxflow bypass, Vortech Fuel Rails, Cartech inline Pump with #8in and #6out feeding 36lb injectors, Powerflex 4" inlet tube Edelbrock Aluminum Heads(2.02/1.60), HIFLO waterpump, 70mmTB, Performer intake, MSD 6ALBTM, Doug Thorley Tri-Y Long tubes to single DynoMax Race Magnum, C6 with 2600 Stall 4.10s with Lockers, engine relocated 14.5" rearward!! |

Hey guy...I can't give you much technical info on your questions about stroker combos, but what I can say is I have a Keith Craft 306 and Jason is who I dealt with their. I lean towards the notion that if you told Jason what your plans are for the motor, and what setup you have, that he will not steer you in the wrong direction. Rod ratio debates still rage from race trailer to race trailer at the track, but I have heard good things about the 408 stroker. Saw one at Houston Performance one day...my gosh that thing was sweet!!! In a Coupe no less!!! Anyways, you are on the right track going with Keith Craft as I am extremely pleased with their service and product. If you have reservations about the stroker combo and rod ratio etc., just ask him. They get pretty busy so what I did is I sat down and would write down my questions so I didn't waste their time or mine, and I know they appreciated good, relevant questions in a logical order. In any event, good luck...

Keith Craft makes some good stuff. I don't know rod ratios for those particular kits (they usually vary from builder to builder) but you can consider the 393 to be like a 331 kit for a 351, and the 408 like a 347 kit. Either way I think you'll be happy.
