Default Just bought used engine and tranny !!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Need some help with the part numbers. It is an ET7E block with E7ZE-6110-CA pistons. He told me the block was .30 over with new pistons. But I believe those are the stock pistons that came with the 88-93 mustangs, am I correct. Also the trans part number is RF-E9OP-7006-AA, and I can find no info on this tranny. I was told he pulled both engine an trans out of an 88 mustang.
Just would like to know a little about the pistons and which car the tranny is out of. Thanks in advance for any help.

Well your trans is an 89 AOD, thats all I can say about that. The E7TE are the head casting numbers. The block casting number is near where the starter mounts up in case the heads were replaced.

thanks for the reply.. The block casting was hf122591, I was told it came from a police 5.0. Anyway to tell? also quick question about the trans. Is it possible to get a 2600 or higher stall converter or will it mess with the electronics?

You can go as high as you want with a stall converter. Thats the beauty about the AOD, is its not electronically controlled like the AODE is. Just remember two things.

1.) Definitely run a nice external transmission cooler. Torque converters get very, very hot!

2.) You only need a stall speed equal to mod level and the amount of torque produced.

What type of mods do you have?

Not sure about the block though.

I have trick flow track heat intake, twisted wedge heads, e303 cam, 70mm tb, 76mm mass air meter, 1 chamber flow masters, off road x-pipe, 3:73 gears, pullies, crane 1.6 roller rocker, 190lph fuel pump, and 24lbs injectors. Haven't installed engine or trans in car yet. Was going to buy a c-4 but might keep the aod now. What stall would you recommend?

Sometimes an oversized piston will have the same part# but with the oversize # at the end (E7ZE-6110-CA 030). It should also be stamped on the piston.
