Post how to remove hitch with out blowing car up?

ok guys..when i bought the car it had a small hitch on it with a cover..my dad tryed a braker bar on it just bust the nuts off but he got one off and then the other one just spun..and the rest of the bolts you cant get to less you take the bumper cover off....then i need new plastic pin things...and i could torch it off but that would be dangerous with the gas tank right there.........take a look at the pic and see what you think

If I were you, I'd just yank the bumper off...it'll take you about 10 minutes or so...very easy to do

It looks like it could use some shimming in the middle anyway.

You don't want too much heat near that sucker, they are WAY too sensitive

And those "pin things" should come off in one piece if you are careful

Take it to a reputable muffler shop with a full tank of gas (fumes are bad)... it should be cheap, and they've got insurance ;-)

I actually want one of those for my 90 notch so I can tow my snowmobile occasionally. If you can get it off in one piece I'll throw ya some cash for it. I installed the same basic hitch ( looks like a Reese) in my lumina. The mounting bolts are drilled through the bumper housing and trunk pan. Can you get a wrench on both ends of the mounting bolts? If the threaded ends are on the outside, the nuts are probably frozen pretty good.

Use anything that will fit in there. On my toilet 89 GT I used wood shims...kind of a hack but the car was **** anyway, even though it was a stang
