Post higher compression nightmare!

Few months ago, i go to the local speed shop
to mill my edelbrock head. The compression
went from 9.1:1 to 10:1. Then the car run like if there was water in the tank! I heard
anormal sound from the pipe when flooring.
I decided to do few test and tune session to
adjust fuel press.. as i raise fuel press up
(38psi-70psi!!!) the car gain 0.5 seconde and
4.5 mph. The car do his best at 70 psi. Unfor
tunately the fuel reglator screw didnt go
any farther. What s the deal!?!? i ve never heard that a
naturally aspirated 302 could be running with 70 psi of gas press. All problems are now solved but i just would like to know why the car need that much fuel.

thank for helping

highly unussual but if you need that much pressure you should step up the injector size.

Well, just hope that sound isn't valve to piston interferance with that high lift cam, high ratio rockers (increase lift) and then bringing the head closer to the piston, you may have contact.

how much did they take off the head to make it 10:1? do you have stock cam and rocker arms? if not there is most likely a clearance problem. 80-120thous. is the valve/piston clearance spec. 80 being the minimum(i think)
