C4 is in and running!
I just got my J&W C4 in last night. It is a full comp with trans brake and all the goodies with a Emerald Torque conveter 3000-3200 stall. My first impression was damn this runs real good vs. what I expected.

Well there isn't a 1/4 track to close to me but my old 1/8 equals around a 12.6 on the motor so I am hoping to stay in the 12's with the C4. I use to run 8.10 in the 1/8th and my buddy runs 8.30 in the 1/8th and insists that I will still be able to beat him on the spray (75hp) I should be able to stay in the 11's I'm hoping I might go a hair faster with the C4.

How is it while cruising around town with the c4 and high stall converter?
Does it launch harder than the t-5? Is traction better or worse? Does it feel faster? ------------------ James Cox nochevy@hotmail.com 1991 Mustang LX 12.565 @109.38mph 1.764 60ft |

I just got back from the Spring Break Shootout in Bradenton with our new Lentech Pure Street Terminator Lock-up AOD. We went two-tenths and .5mph better than we averaged with the T5! The AOD has a full manual valve body, transbrake, lock-up and functional overdrive. I've got to say that I enjoy driving it every bit as much as the T5! And cool...even when stalling it up on the transbrake, temps were still only about 160F at the end of the run. Its got a 4200-4200 10" stall in it. I've got some work to do on learning to let go of the transbrake button, but it will come with time. We're still two hundred pounds over weight too, so if I can get the weight out of the car and do a few other things, we should be running at least in the 11.60's by the time Atlanta rolls around next month.
If anyone were to ask me, I'd definitely tell them to go Lentech AOD. ------------------ Jeff Chambers Trophy Stock #3 11.86 Seconds / 113.8 MPH Chambers Racing Team |

Well, I just swapped in a J&W C4 with the works in it along with an Emerald Torque converter that stalls around 3300-3500. And I went from 1 5/8" shorties to BBK LT 1 5/8".
My best time with the T-5 is a 8.10 with a 1.77 60" I go that 60" with a 5000 dump of the clutch on Dr's. Last night I took the car to the track after the swap and it ran a best of a 8.21@82mph leaving at idle. It cut 1.78 60" on Dr's also I backed the 8.21 pass up with another 8.21 at the end of the night. My best T-5 time was in good air last night it was bad air. That's not even using the transbrake yet? I would say that I cruise around 3000 at 60 but I'm just guessing I don't have a speedo! Well the car cuts the same 60" as it did with the stick but now I only get one tire in the air about 3" vs. both tires a little higher. I'm not sure about traction I haven't tried to launch at anything but foot to the floor it feels about the same as far as how fast it feels. I bought my full comp J&W used for $900 Jeff: I tried to use my transbrake and ran into the same problem I'm not use to lunching with my hand??? |
