351/426stroker cleveland power?

hey i have a 1972 351 cleveland cj in my bronco, it has some upgrade on it like msd inotion, holly intake,800cfz carb,zoomies,big cam,super coil,high perfromace water pump, and somemore stuff. But i was wondering how much HP and tork i would be able to get out of it if i put i high ram intake and 426 stroker kit in and built it up to the max? or if im gonna have to put in a 460 and stroke it out to a 528 and built it up to get the power i need ? thanks

Zoomies=not street legal. So what exactly are you doing with the Bronco? Sounds like a mundane question, but are we drag racing, mud pits, hill climbing etc etc.

Something that need High HP, stick with the "small" block and stroke the shyt out of her. Something that needs ballz-to-the-wall torque, ya just can't beat a big block.

I for one, am a HUGE fan of the sound a small block Ford makes at 9,000 RPM!!! Makes my tongue hard in fact!

In a nutshell, whatcha doin with this beast?

Im mud bogging with it and i need the power to spin for 44 inch tires and fly acrost the pit in 5 seconds

Is a High RPM small block feasable for you type of racing? I mean do you have time before the pit to "wind her up?" Dump the clutch, and let the mud fly!

Obviously you know about the FE motors, looking at your signature. I'd be looking at a 390 with 428 heads, crank, etc etc. Perhaps. But we're only talking about 5 seconds, soooooo High RPM High HP, good tires that will "float" and let that bitch scream!

IMHO ya need a high RPM motor that's not afraid of 8,500. But if you're taking the motor upstairs, make sure the bottom end can handle it. Can't go upstairs with a bad basement!

ya u have time to rev it up and dump it, but im runing a racing C-6 with a 4000RPm stall converter so i just hold the brake untill in hits 4000 then let off ,then smash the gas to the floor. but last sunday was my frist bog with the new 351 and it took off the line like a rockit, then i slamded it into 2st when it hit 7000rmp, then i was flyin thought the muddyest part and had to shift down into 1st and it ran out of power and fell below 4000 and stoped

IMHO that sounds like an "RPM" game. Big Blocks aren't gonna like that. Get the tires hummin', get your right foot past the carb and into the water pump, and hold on!

Have you considered dropping "down" to a 393" Windsor, or a 408" 302? That is NOT big block territory, and even though it's small block inches, when doing this kinda stuff ya need to think of the Cleveland as a "big block".

IMHO there has never been a better suited motorsport for the 393" Windsor, than what you are describing.

i had a 302 to start with but we couldn't get the power out of that i needed, thats why i put in the 351 hopeing i could built it up and get the power i need

So here are the engines that i have in my grage waiting to be built up 351 cleveland, 428 corba jet , 460 so what one do u guys think would do the best for what im doing

You're going to have to spend some big bucks to get alot of rpm out of a 351c. As for taking off at high RPM, you dont need a small block.. a BB would work way better. Some steep gears and a low RPM BB would work better, the SB doesnt have the TQ if you start to bog down. Check out www.460ford.com , quite a few pullers and boggers there.

ya but its gonna be alot work trying to stuff a 460 in a little bronco the camewith a 302 so i was hopeing i could get the HP and TQ i need from the 351c with a super charger or high ram intake and builting it up
