I think the first question should be why the hood flew open. Do you use the stock latch or do you have hood pins. Because i know when I had the stock latch with a 3in fiberglass hood I had to shut it pretty hard.

Their is no point in fixing it or buying a new hood if its going to fly open again and break.

And Second

Is the hole in the grill part underneath the cowl part of the hood, because if its is you could just cut it out and leave open. Alot of older fiberglass hoods didn't even come with that part.

Or are you taking about the cowl piece between the hood and the windshield, because if its that piece you could find one at a junk yard for a couple dollars.

Default body repair

Yes,
The metal can be easily straightened and can be made relatively plumb with sparing body filler.
Get Hood pins because w/ fiberglass hoods, even latched, can easily pop up.
I had to learn this the hard way, twice...

Good Luck...

Default cost...

$15 for a new plastic grill from junkyard, or $65 new from 50resto.com.

Did the metal work and filler myself, it would be about $200 at a decent shop.

Moroso hood pin kit for $28.

Enjoy...
