mounting location for msd 6A

where's the best location to mount an MSD 6A in a stock 90GT? here's a pic for no reason

What he said or you can ditch the stock air box go to a conical filter and mount it on that inner fender. Just a suggestion.

thanks for the ideas. i know it would fit under the seat but i'm trying to keep the MSD unit in the engine compartment. i still have the stock airbox so its gonna be a problem. can i mount it on the piece of metal under the battery (facing the engine fan) or will it get wet there? maybe mount it there and put some protective case over it with vent holes? i know it cant be hot.....still looking for a good location..........

I ended up relocating my battery the trunk to make room.

Ahhhh the joys of a carbed car. I moved my battery to the back and put my msd where it is. But ive also taken alot out from under my hood and hidden 80% of the wiring. And sorry its not the greatest pic to show where it goes but it gives you kinda an idea.

Mine is under the passenger's side seat too. I like having it out of the environment and it's not hard at all to run the wires for it.

dont really want to spend the time and $$ to relocate the battery, i need the all of the tiny trunk space for fishing gear

i also wanted to try to avoid buying a conical filter. maybe i make a mounting bracket to attach it to the top of the passenger side firewall?

for the guys that mounted it in the car, any radio interference?

when you relocate your battery to the hatch, dont you have to mount a power switch on the outside of the hatch to be legal at the strip?

Yep, youll need to have a power kill switch if you move the batt to the back.

I mounted mine on the driver's side inner fenderwell. I've got all my wiring tucked away and I like the hidden look.

I recommend NOT mounting it on the firewall. You want to keep electronics away from heat as much as possible, as well as water. In a fenderwell or where the airbox and battery used to be are about as close to ideal as it gets under the hood. I mounted my Crane under the driver's seat.

I thought to be NHRA legal it HAD to be mounted 100% visible on the outside rear of the vehicle. Like next to the license plate or something.

the driver's side fenderwall sounds like a good idea for my situation, any tips on installation? should i make some sort of breathable water shield? how about some sort of rubber mounts to insulate from vibration?

anyone ever have problems with their stock tach?
