they should work but the tail shaft might be longer on some of them, but i think you can just swap it out. Get an LSC tranny if you can, they are stronger and might have lower gear ratios.

u r gonna want to stick with a mustang transmission. The mustangs got extra clutches and plates in the clutch packs vs a Crown Vic or T- Bird. The govenors in the tail shaft were different also, and the servo's were beefed up for the stangs.
Bottom line, some other cars would work (although I think the Crown vics are a little longer)..but u would be very unhappy with the final product.

Also, try to stay with the newer AODS out of the mustangs....as the years went by, Ford continued to make them a little better then the first ones....from 81.

I had a 1990 LSC and the AOD tranny had a magnet in the pan, vs. my 1993 GT AOD that did not. It looks like for the extra thousands you pay for the lincoln, you get the magnet, which helps tranny life. And the linclon had the same 5.0 HO, so should have just as strong if not stronger tranny than the mustang.

I dont know if the crown vics and t-birds had less clucth packs or not, never heard that before.

good luck

I can not say the LSC's were better or not, but believe they may be a little harder or expensive to come by. AS for the clutch packs, unfortunately I learned that the hard way, after frying a t-bird trans or two....

its a stock 92 gt with orig motor and 160,000 miles no mods other that shorties and exhaust. do you think a bird tranny could do if i was just looking for a daily driver as opposed to a track car. or will the motor eat it no matter what.

Is there a reason u do not want to use the tranny u have now, and just rebuild it?
