Post help me decide on an exhaust tip....

OK, I am still working on my side exhaust. I need a tip. I found two real nice ones from Hedman. I need a vote.

TIP ONE

TIP TWO

If you have any others please post a picture. Keep in mind this is coming out the side.

Is this for a fox body? If it is I think that the 3' oval tubing from "dr gas" would look cool.

NO, but if you go to the dr gas website they have all kinds of exhaust goodies there. You can get there X pipe and run the side pipes off of that. That way you won't have to change direction of exhaust flow with j bends like the cobra r.

Hi,
I dunno, dual exhaust tips on 5.0L seems a little, erm...gay.

I've always liked the classic angle-cut chrome pipes. I have 3" pipes and they look pretty sweet compared to the stock which I think is about 1.5" or 2" or something.

But you mentioned side exhaust so I dunno what really looks good on side-exhaust 5.0L since I haven't seen that many. You can try the tips similar to the Cobra R.

Just my preference..
Bye!

that looks WAY to ricey.....the dual exaust should be dual exhaust, not tips. It looks really dumb, especially if you have those ugly things on each side.

Those ones you just posted look pretty cool as they are. Is that the setup you're looking at/have? I wouldn't change anything about them, except maybe some chrome.

If all else fails, how 'bout them four-inch coffee can tips? Whoops, wrong board!

HAHA, Coffee tins, yeah that would be great!

The pics that I posted, the 2000 Cobra R, is the exact setup I am looking at.

Bassani makes the Cobra R exhaust, and those tips alone cost $150 each!!!

Neither of the 2 will look right. If they go out back they will look gay and if you take them out the side the will look funny because they are not angle cut like the Cobra R's. Those are just equal length ends instead of one being shorter them the other so they are even with the body.

Good point.

Good thing I started planning this now, it will take me a while to find a nice tip at a good price.

Does anyone know if anyone else makes that kind of cut tip other then Bassani?

No, but the previous tips you showed were not angle cut, and were conciderably larger in diameter. The cobra r ones look good, the ones up top don't, IMHO.

My Borla dual tips are angle cut but most of the tip is in the rocker panel. You might go to www.borla.com and see if they sell just the tips.

Here's a pic of mine. Mine's obviously not a Fox Stang but it might help in your search
Borla dual tips
My kit is the Rebel 500 setup. The angled tips are very similar to the Bassani tips and they might sell just that part.

Thanks for the info.

Those tips look cool. I went to Borla's site. It is terrible!! They do not have a very well planned out or organized site.

Anyhow, I could not find just the tip.

Thumbs down

Damn, they did mess the site up. I didn't go to it when I made the link. I went to it just now and it's pretty screwy. Sorry I couldn't help. Maybe you could get a cheap dual setup and then machine an angle on them or something?

The extra 'j' bend should not add/be a problem - I have the same setup on my 82 GT with Dynomax Super Turbos. Whereas regular super turbos (in the front out the back) make an 's' bend inside the muffler, the ones I got (in the front out the front) only make a 'u' bend inside the muffler, so - the additional 'j' bend to take it out the side just completes the 's' - without the extra bend having to take it over the axle.

just my $.02

I would seriously consider the Gibson Supertruck tip. Its a very sharp looking tip. It is about 4 inches long and about 1 1/2 inches approx tall.. Very sharp looking..It looks like the exhaust tip on a LT1 Crapmaro only not plastic.. These are Black Stainless steel.
