306 or 331 ?
We're looking to drop a crate motor in our 88GT over the winter. Also looking long-term to add a supercharger. Thoughts on going to a 306 vs 331?
I've heard you can make the same power on the 306, but you'll need more boost. Also heard the 331 will provide more torque. Any comments guidence appreciated |

Re: 306 or 331 ?
I would say go to the 331. I started a 342 project, sence I recieved the shortblock I have leared that a 331 will make more peak HP than the 342, and the 342 will make more torque. Any one will out do the 306, because of size. If you have plans of a big supercharger, I would say 331. BUT, you should concentriat on buiding a bottom end to stay together at well over 600hp levels.

Re: 306 or 331 ?
I have been thinking of this for months, so yesterday I bite the bullit and ordered everything needed for a 331. I talked with alot of people about which route to go and everyone agreed the 331 was the best way. You can make the same power with a 306 but you will need to do it with rpm's, anyway you do it, it is going to take aliitle money to make it right and safe.
