302 HO vs. 302
What are all the differences between a 302 HO motor and a normal 302? are the blocks any different? i know the HO uses the 351W firing order but other than that why were they any better than a normal 302?

Re: 302 HO vs. 302
the 87-93 ho motors have forged pistons,im pretty sure the 86 ho has forged pistons but theres no fly cut so u cant fun a good size cam.the regular 302 say in a crown vic has cast pistons and usally the e6 lower compression heads.the cam in a ho has the better firing order 13726548 where the reg 302 has the shitty firing order. the blocks are the same. the crank is the same and the rods are the same.
ps 87-93 ho motors are a dime a dozen

Re: 302 HO vs. 302
is there anyway to make a 302 HO into a 347 Stroker? or is it pointless since your taking out the HO cam and putting in a new one anyways and along with taking out the forged pistons for new ones?

Re: 302 HO vs. 302
Well, the 302HO or 5.0HO's go back to 1982. If you're talking about EFI versions of the engines, there are some differences.
#1 Firing order #2 87-92 5.0HO's had forged pistons. '93s got the hypers. #3 Camshafts #4 '86 5.0HO and the 87+ non 5.0HO got E6SE heads (suck) Yes, you can make a 302 into a 347. You'll just need a conversion kit (not a simple swap) and unless you're planning on adding heads/cam/intake, it's absolutely a waste of money. The stock parts will restrict your power production. |

e7 heads suck too.the e6 have a better combustion chamber design but there low compression head

Re: 302 HO vs. 302
H.O all the way stock for stock. Your best bet is to get a XXX bare block and build your own engine. Building your own engine will get you familiar with it. And buying the parts require's research so you will know how much you can push it.
