Have Fuel NO SPARK!
I had my new 351 running on monday it had a couple of minor problem 1) exhaust leak 2) x pipe was touching cross member 3) it was running real lean I fixed the first two problems, but when I went to start the car back up no spark. I have power to the coil, even tried my friends coil still no spark. Could I have fried a wire that would just kill spark all my other electrical components work fine. I even swaped TFI module and no spark! Where should I start looking? could it be a fuseable link? Thanks |

What components do you have? Are you EFI? Did you get an aftermarket ignition?

Check the wire exiting the coil for a broken conductor, this can be discovered as easy as burnt silicon material in the vicinity of the broken conductor causing an arcing effect. if the conductor has split inside the insulation of the wire, you may not noitice it. Try out your buddy's coil to distributor lead/wire. And as always be safe when working around such high voltages. You won't like getting hit with a nice surge of coil increased voltage.

Have you checked the fusible link to the EEC? Check the wiring harness beside the driver's side strut tower, also beside the EECIV scanner plug in. There should be a fusible link there. Make sure it hasn't blown.

Bust out your trusty voltmeter(every mustang owner should have one!!) and check your plug wires. If you have power to the coil, the problem is from the coil beyond. It sounds like a bad coil wire. If you check for resistance it should have no more than 30 ohms. Resistance in wires is bad.

Its fixed and I am stupid.
I tried several things before restarting the car. 1) Checked every wire and connection that I could find. No Problems 2) Pulled the plastic off around the steering wheel checked connections there. (the interior was out last time the car was running) 3) removed my MSD shift light wire from the back of my fuse panel. I think that wire may have been loose and shorting some thing out. Turned the key and it started right up! I got it running know its back to tuning. I hope my shift light still works |
