TFS intake
Which intake is better for this combo:
347, 11:1 compression, tfs stage 2 cam, tfs track heat twisted wedge heads. c-4 trans. long tube headers, 3" pro-chamber and 3" dumps. stang is never driven on the street. is the tfs track heat enough or do i need to step up to the tfs-R? bear in mind, the motor never gets revved past 6200 |

Re: TFS intake
since it's a track car, I'd go with the R. It may make less average power, but if you can keep the power in the sweet band with the drive train, you'll ET better.

Re: TFS intake
Ever thought about a spider intake? Or I could get you a Vortech/Saleen style intake with an extrude honed bottom.

Re: TFS intake
Actually, yes i have contemplated a spyder. Its just that i've had good results with TFS products. im already running a track heat, so i was wondering what everybody else is doing. the whole reason to this was that even with my 302, edelbrock headed motor, it slowed down dramatically if i revved it past 5500. and with the 347 its still the same way. the only things left i did not change are the intake and the torque convertor. i know an ideal torque for a 302 will be way too loose on the 347, but i ran it as is just to see where i was. last weekend i was rewarded with a best of 7.162@94 in the 1/8th. also with a 1.52 60'. and at 1950' density altitude. even though this is smokin with a n/a small motor, i think there is more to be had with a little more rpms. even though, i will not rev past 6200-6300 because i dont want to replace it every hundred passes. all in all i'm pretty happy with where it runs now. thx, Jay

Re: TFS intake
7.10's aren't bad, you're moving with those times. Do you have stock ignition or stock valve springs? They will both limit you to the power loss above 5500...

Re: TFS intake
no, i have an MSD and an Anderson PMS. the valve springs are not stock TFS twisted wedge, i dont remember what Virgil put in them. the old motor had edelbrock springs and they were new. its not really a valve float problem. when i say slowed dramatically i mean a few hundredths, maybe half a tenth. for a bracket racer like me, thats a bunch. it is very very consistant, last weekend in eliminations it ran a 7.218, then a 225 a 223, and a 227. thats 4 within a hundredth. and no delay box. too bad the driver got a case of red eye. another thing to remember, this motor only has 34 passes on it. there's about a half a tenth left in only wearing in and the fact that i have not switched to the full synthetic oil yet. my ultimate goal is under 7 no power adder, even a 6.99999999999 is still under 7 i got some video clips at home if ur interested, they're not the greatest but ok.
