Accel DFI or Speed Brain ECUs?
I am currently converting my 78 fairmont to EFI. The donor car is an 86 5.0. Iam using the speed density setup for now, but future plans call for 2 turbos. Seeing as how Im gonna have to convert the computer system, I wanted to know what everyone thought was better, the DFI or Speedbrain. I like the thought of the DFI because I dont have to buy a mass air conversion, unlike the Speedbrain where I would have to get the Mass air meter, jumper harness, etc. THANKS>

I have been eye-balling the DFI. Test them both, and report your finding to ME Just kidding Chris, I really am considering the DFI

Speedbrain or DFI? hmmm....my choice....NEITHER!!
If you are going to get some sort of aftermarket engine management system, go and get the best..get what the pros use...the Speed Pro (Fel Pro? system). As Mike Murillo put it once, if DFI comparable to Atari....then the Speed Pro (Fel Pro) system is the Sony Playstation. Good Luck. ------------------ Jeff Kane 1990 LX Mustang ex-5.0 Coupe No engine. Hmmm, "mike murrilo"....speaking of him, i been watching some test tune runs at the track, that guy has some serious boost on all their cars
The racecar coupe he has, seems like it's direct drive, massive boost runs?? oh well he's probaly experimenting different setups. ------------------ 90 lx coupe: Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, advncd ignition,3-core radiatr, FMS alum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs, 3chbr flows. this car is going to be used for a daily driver, so I dont think Im gonna need to get a speed pro system. The only reason Im looking into either one of these is because for me the cost is nearly the same, seeing as how I have to get a Mass air meter, jumper harness and so forth to use the Speed Brain. It seems like it would be logical to just get the DFI because I dont need the mass air sensor and its accesorries. THANKS

Out of business! Well I guess i'll be staying with my extender just a little bit longer. While I get the bucks up for an EPEC. Speaking of which I just got my info pack in form Header's By "ED". Never knew a custom set of headers could cost 1200 bucks!! Called about a set of 1-7/8 headers from a mass producer and they were 700.00!!! This performance stuff is getting expensive! for a n/a motor. I'm thinking about doing another shortblock and either throughing on the giggle gas or a huffer? just not with a stock 5.0 block when money and time permits
