Question Balancing?????

When rebuilding an engine, what are they talking about when they say getting the engine balanced. Does this apply to a new crank or what? Please help! I will be rebuilding a 302 here very soon so I don't want to miss anything. Also, I have a 79' 302 block out of a fairmont. Is it possible to install a roller camshaft or do I need to get something done to the block to do that?

when you rebuild a motor and change any internal part you should have it re balanced. meaning, rods, pistons, crank, balancer, flywheel. as for the roller cam in the 79 block you can do it. you will need to get the roller conversion kit and its pretty easy. since you are in the area if you are considering doing a performance rebuild i would be happy to build you a killer motor. e-mail me and ill help you out and send you a price list if youre interested.

Just thought I'd mention that the 79 302 and your 90 5.0 have a different balance. The flywheel and harmonic balancer won't cross over.
