Question Noisy Tach is driving me crazy!

The stock Tach in my '90GT is making noise at about 2,000 RPM! Any of you had this problem or know what I have to do to fix it? I just don't know how a tach works, and I can not figure out what would be making noise! The spedometer, I can understand, but not my tach!?
Help please if you can...
Thanks
PS - she has nearly 130K on the ticker now, so maybe it is just plain worn out.
