What do you mean you can't get the tranny to line up? What year is the car, what motor and what tranny? Is it a fox body with a 2.3 and a C3? Ford did not put the aod behind the 2.3L. Are your trying to put an AOD behind a 2.3? That won't fit. Please specify what you mean by "won't line up".

I am at a loss on this one, the trans should line up. there isn't any modifications between 4cyl motors. i would have to say either converter isn't in all the way.

You can't get the studs on the converter to line up in the flywheel? I use a long screwdriver to turn the torque converter to line them up. Make sure the flywheels have the same bolt pattern too. I don't see why they won't, but it is worth looking at. When you pulled the old motor, you may have pulled the converter out some also. If everything is right, you just got to jack and jerk and push and pull and twist, but she will go in there.
