Default Rack and pinion

Got a question about steering. Have a 90 Fox and want to change to manual rack. I was gonna go with Flamming River but didnt know if I need the entire kit or if i can just get the rack and use the stock steering shaft? Also, is there any company out there that is comparable or better than Flamming River when it comes to steering?

Nope, you'll need either the FM steering shaft or the OEM manual rack rag joint. The manual racks have a smaller diameter input shaft than the power racks. The manual rag joint can be a little tough to find (D9BZ-3A525-A) but if you call some of the larger Ford dealerships in the magazines you should be able to find it. The FM piece is nice but they're mighty proud of it. I've used both; the FM shaft provides better header & K-member clearance.
