Default Autolite

Im doing a tuneup on my stang.... cap, rotor, plugs and wires.... I got plugs today, which are Autolite Platinum. Are they good plugs? I was reading in MM&FF and they were recommending them... Also, what are some good quality wires? Thanks!

Jason

oh man, tell me mm.ff's didnt say that, i guess they might be good for longetevity, but for performance they are crapnums, i use regular copper motorcraft plugs,

and wires, taylor, or frpp 9mm's are what i have and been great, if your on a budget those performance wires can run you 60-90$ so a stock set isnt that bad for driving daily.

dont forget to gap them.

Autolite work fine for everyday use. Always index your plugs.

Factory wires work great too. I don't see spending the extra money on any motor thats not modded.

I use one step colder in my 93GT 5.0, normal Autolites in the orange box. 24's or 25's I cant remeber off hand they work good.

I have always had good results with Autolight 24's before I put my new heads on, now I have to use 3924's cause of the longer reach. Other then that motorcraft plugs were pretty good, but the copper autolights were still better IMO. Also another vote for Taylor wires here.

If your hurting for cash, then take the platinum plugs back to the store and exchange them for copper ones and get your refund. The coppers perform better. The only thing better than copper is the iridium plugs and they only seem to help if you don't have a strong enough ignition system or if your running a ton of boost or nitrous with a stock ignition system. On a N/A 5.0 iridium plugs won't make a difference and you can't beat the good ol' copper motorcraft or autolite plugs.

I've got NGK's. I heard they were good plugs from a few good sources.
