302 head compatibility
Anyone know if 89 302 heads fit on a 65 289? Also is it recommended due to combustion chamber differences? I don't want to do it if there is a significant power loss, I'm just looking for cheaper alternatives to rebuilding the old heads.

Re: 302 head compatibility
302 heads will bolt directly on a 289 block.
Compression loss? That's still up in the air. Gettin away cheap? You're good to go, just don't look for performance.

Re: 302 head compatibility
There is probably going to be a slight compression loss, however the better design in the 89 heads is going to flow a little better.
Jester is right on the performance aspect, but I will say that the E7TE's I just took off my car ran very strong for being home ported heads. Ryan
