5.0 Badge Removal
Does anyone know how to remove the 5.0 badge off the sides of the car and the ford badge off the back hatch without causing any damage. I am getting ones that say 347 to replace them..Thanks for any help.

the ford badge on the trunk has three holes under it they aren't very big but they will need to be filled or they will rust... the 5.0 badges are easy to remove... just peel them off being carefull of the paint under them... they may leave some double sided tape but that easy to take off... either use a hairdryer to heat them up and rub it off or use oil, because tape/stickers have an oil based adhesive and oil will disolve it and they will again rub right off... hope this helps... i did mine, pretty easy

Every 5.0 emblem I have ever taken off has left a mark of some sort...most likely darker paint
Besides that, the new emblem should cover it up fine. As far as the hatch, if the new emblem covers up the old holes, just fill them with some silicone so they don't rust ------------------ 1992 5.0 LX, V-1 S-Trim @8LBS,Edelbrock 6037 Heads,Cobra Intake,E-303,1.6 Roller Rockers,65MM Holley TB, 75 MM Pro M Mass Air, 190 LPH FP,24 lb injectors,MSD 6A and BTM,BBK equal length shorties, offroad h-pipe,Mac Flowpath Mufflers,Pro 5.0, 3.73's,Motorsport "C" springs, welded subframe connectors,Ponies w/ 225/50 Nitto NT 450's on front,255/50 BFG Drags out back,93 Cobra Spoiler Daily driver: 89 Coupe with 208K plus, BBK shorties, offroad h-pipe,2-chamber flowmasters with dumps, |

The 5.0 badges on the sides are very easy to remove. All I had to do was get a hair dryer at medium to low heat and let it blow over the badge for about 5 or 6 min. After that, I got a piece of dental floss and, starting at the top of the badge, threaded it next to the paint. You just have to go slow and not pull too hard with the dental floss.
There was a little tape or adhesive left but it came off easily. ------------------ 91 GT AOD: 3.73's, Pulleys,PI Converter, 14.71@91.78mph (before pulleys) |
