Default Anyone else think this guy is full of it?

Check out this auction... This would actually indicate an increase of 90 HP to the rear wheels from reworked stock heads and a K&N. I call BS.Auction

The guy says that the heads added 60 hp to his car. That doesnt sound to outrageous. The heads on a 5.0 are what holds it back the most. If he had some quality work done on the heads its possible that he saw a 60 horse gain. I didnt say he did, i said its possible. I could be wrong about that though, im no head expert. Think about it this way the bid as of the time on this post is 175. Lets say that those heads only give you half the horsepower that he is advertising. I know lots of people who have spent more than $175 and gotten less than 30 hp on various mods. If you bought them for 175 and you got 40hp that wouldnt be too bad, and if you got closer to 60, like he says, thats even better.

There's no way in hell porting stock heads gave him an extra 60 hp. I agree that the heads are the main chokehold for 5.0 power, but even a set of aluminum GT40's will only give you 30 hp. What I want to know is if this guy did such a great job with the grinder, why does he show the top of the heads in the picture?

Take care,
~Chris

I would never by ported heads from someone where I could not verify the work. I agree that the heads are the most important, that is why I found the heads on Ebay. I was looking for some slightly used aluminum heads.

I think decent heads and intake would give a better chance at 60RWHP. 280 to the rear wheels with these though...

... maybe its the heads & soethin else he found durin reassembly, or added that wasnt supposed to be significant & helped in tandem with ... .. & the head builder convinced em that they were that good...... has happened b4.... doesnt feel likely that headz alone woud give that much...

The funny thing is he says his car made 280 HP at the rear wheels with those heads and a K&N filter. There is no way in hell its making 280 HP. My car only made 291 HP at the rear wheels with the mods I have. I smell big B.S.

I was running 253 rwhp with stock heads and when I installed a ported set of E7's I purchased with a 5-angle valve job and full porting exhaust and intake I re-dynoed with everything else the same I registered 312 rwhp at 400 rpm lower ,5350 rpm. Now when I go to the local track the biggest mistake every 5.0 owner makes is a different cam than stock. Everyone raises the rpm which makes the car low on horsepower for everyday driving. Trash the aftermarket cam and you will improve horsepower and torque. But then the Ford Magazines have been saying this since 1989 but people still buy those cams.

312 rwhp with E7 heads and a stock cam.... I should pitch my ported Trick Flows and E cam for some stock stuff.

I only made 309hp/310tq at the wheels.

To be fair remember we did not run the same dyno on the same day so our RWHP might be off by as much as 10%
