Default $1000 to spend on motor ne suggestions

I have a 1991 notchback 5.0 with 60kmiles. The car already has a good deal of suspension goodies, but the only engine mods are a tremec3550 trany, 3.55 gears, mac headers and flowmasters.
I have about $1000 give or take to spend on the engine what do u guys think i should get that would really make it faster. Thanks

You might not want to, but nitrous would be the best bang for the buck. Or you could try and pick up a set of used GT-40 iron heads and a Cobra intake. I'd also do some more exhaust work(off-road H-pipe) and a bigger mass-air and throttle body.

Sorry about the sketchyness of this post but, I've gotta leave for work in 5 min

You're probably going to start to see a pattern with this post...

You need NOS dude!!!
(refer to picture from above post (I love that pic!!))

I would get a wet nitrous kit and an off road hpipe (so when you fry your first head gasket you don't have to worry about your cats getting damaged/plugged up if/when antifreeze enters your exhaust), plus the extra hp and sound is a benefit also.

That should get you close to $1000.

If you decide on the nitrous (many companies, many choices) it's recommended you have a purge valve, and a bottle heater (unless where you live is hot/warm at all times), and a nitrous pressure gauge. Also, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and aftermarket pump are highly recommended for anything over a 75hp shot. (as far as reliability goes, I've been greedy and paid the price a few times)

There's more than one way to skin a cat, remember...

You could go another route...
Find some used parts; a set of heads and intake (mentioned above) and a decent camshaft...

That is, if you should decide nitrous isn't for you.

Good Luck on your decision!

"He's got enough NOS to blow himself up!" Dumbf*ck-ski!
I cringe at every mention of that flic!!
All in good humor...

here is my 02 cents..

1. nitrous is the best for the money. but you need to know how to install and tune it properly or you could end up damaging the engine on the first spray.

2. as for bolt-ons... i would suggest that you buy some comp cams valve springs .. this will let you rev your engine safely to 6000 rpms without floating the valves..

3. take the cylinder heads off, and port the exhaust side as much as possible, remove the thermactor casting that is on the top of each port.

4. get a bigger MAF, like a 70 mm and a matching throttle body.
and a nice big K&N filter to put on the end of the MAF !

5. get some off road h-pipes and flowmaster mufflers!

6. cobra intake is a nice mod too !!! makes a BIG difference in power if its combined with the bigger MAF and TB (but even the stock TB is good as long as the MAF is bigger).

total cost is less than 1000 ..

lets say you just get the cobra intake and bigger MAF and a set of new hig perf. valve springs.. ..

if you bought them new from www.summitracing.com ...
cost would be..

1. 86-93 cobra intake = 399.
2. 1989-93 5.0L HO Mustang, 70mm, MAF = 209.99
3. 1985-2000 302 (5.0L), hydraulic roller cam engines, valve spring and retainer kits crane cams = 113.95
4. cobra intake manifold gasket set. = 30.00 ???

so , total cost if you install the parts yourself is just = 752.94 + tas

NOT BAD FOR 20-30 WHP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
