Post Whats the best Torque Converter

Ok im gonna buy a higher stall torque converter for my rebuilt AOD. The tranny guy said i should go for the TCI Streetfighter 3000 to 3400 , tci said on average itll stall up around 2800 to 3200. If i buy the stall converter im gonna have to get 4.10 gears, so im kinda hurtin for money. TCI wants $425.00 for their converter. Do any of you guys or gals know of a cheaper converter that as good as tci but cheaper?? Or a better converter thats around 400.00 but is better than TCI? Please if at all possible please help cause i need to get one so i can get the tranny in. Also 1 last thing how much will a stall and 4.10 gears help my stang in the 1/4?(it has flows and a k&n) Well thanks a million in a advance to whoever replies.

I think that $425 is pretty cheap for a convertor. I paid $779 for my last one. I know that tci makes good stuff for c-4's and chevies, but i dont know anyone who has had experience with their aod stuff.

Thumbs up

I had a TCI converter in my 'vert and I'd recommend their stuff to anybody. It was the best money I ever spent on that car...even better than gears.

Thanks to the both of you for replying. I've checked around and TCI's price seems good, and ive heard TCI is pretty good so i think ill go with it. And hopefully get the tranny in this weekend and get the stang on the streets, so i can go tear up some camaro's!!! So thanks again.
