Default $3,000 to spend

Guys, I need some suggestions.

I have $3,000 to spend and want some advice on what to get. I was going to dish out a little extra and get a kenne bell 2.2 blowzilla, but then I would have to worry about traction, tranny, and fuel system upgrades. Then I was thinking of a centrigual s/c and a rebuilt short block stroked to 331, knowing I will have to upgrade the fuel system. Then I was considering and rebuilt stroked 331 with afr 185's.

Any ideas on what I should get for my $$$. BTW, I want to keep her a daily driver.

Sound's like you want more power. But have you thought about upgrading the suspension or brakes. 3k will do a really nice baer brake set up and rims and tires.

Go with the 331 with the afr185's.

No doubt.

HUGE question guys!!!

I have purchased the afr 185's w/ 1.6 ford RR's and a set of 24 lb injectors. Should I get a 331 stroker or an 89 Short Block 351W
Hone
Decked
Balanced
New 0.60 Keith Black 10/1 Pistons
New Freeze Plugs
New Cam Bearings
New Rod Bearings
New Main Bearings
Includes New Complete Full Gasket Set

The Stroker will leave me just enough for a custom grind. The 351 will leave me enough for the grind and some extra suspension goodies. What's the better block. Remember, daily driven...25 mile round trip daily on 3.73's

I would still go 331.

with the 351 you need.

A new intake manifold
headers
distributor
oil pan
etc...

So it really would not be cheaper.

The 331 is a great choice. I would do 331 over the 351, the 351 is beefier, but your gunna pay for it in weight. So there is always a trade-off, but the 331 would be a excellent base for the future mods you might want to have.

Oh yeah guys, the 351 is already bored out to 362. I'm kind of leaning towards it.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I picked up the 362 and have finally started the build...I'm waiting on an adjustable pushrod to get the correct length. Plenty of goodies going into her. What kind of hp do you all think something like this will pull?

AFR 185's
1.6 rr's
Ed Curtis Custom Roller cam
Retrofit Linked lifters
BBK 1 3/4 Longtubes
main cap girdle
Lightning lower/GT40 Tubular upper
Mark VIII Electric Fan
30 lb injectors
Holley Adjustable FPR

The heart of Red Venom

Some of the "goodies" that should be bolted on very soon.

These will replace those old dirty valve covers.

Lincoln Mark VIII Fan. Strongest Fan on the market.

AFR 185's

BBK 1 3/4 longtube headers

Should make 375-400HP at the fly - maybe more if the combo comes together right. Ed's usually pretty close on the cam if you gave him good info.
