im afraid youll have to be a bit more specific. there are quite a few vacuum hoses that come off your upper intake. are they coming from the rear? how long? what size? can you take any pics?
dont be driving it until you figure out where they go. you have a sensor on the center of the firewall that takes one, the vacuum tree in front of the drivers side firewall takes one. one runs off of the pvc valve on the rear of the intake and attaches to the upper intake on the underside. one attaches to the throttle body and i believe if you still have it, one to the smog pump. im probably forgetting a couple but im trying. the pvc one is easy to miss. give us more detail, sounds like your losing of have no vacuum.

by the way, exchange them splitfires with the trash for some autolites or something equivalent.

rereading your post,,, if the smog pump is not connected you should remove it. did you plug the holes in your exhaust pipes where the tube coming off the thermactor valve connects?

Default vaccum lines

The pop sounds like it could be fuel related.Check and see if the vaccum line is connected to the fuel pressure regulator, the other posibbly could go to the egr valve. The overheating problem, did you install the head gaskets properly they should both say front and they have to be put on correctly or you will cut off water flow, or it could be the thermostat, timing, did you re check your timing after you reinstalled everything.

Default pop

One more thing check forheader leaks at the heads and h-pipe,if youplug the back of the heads where the smog tubes go I believe you can use a 1/2 inch set screw. Good Luck

Default thermactor valve

Do you have an off-road h-pipe? If not, you need the smog pump. You'll clog the catalitic converters if you don't run the smog pump. The thermactor valve is the pipe running from the smog pump to the center of the h-pipe. It is only about a 1/2" pipe. -Keith

easiest way for you to figure out them two lines you have loose is to pull another stang up next to yours. you should know somebody i hope who has one. then you can see where his/hers go and check for any you might have mixed up as well.
i removed my a/c with the smog pump so im not sure but i think you can simply remove it and run a shorter belt. i had to move the tensioner pulley to where the a/c used to be, but i dont think you will have to. use a string to find out what length belt you need.
later,
Q
