B&M Shifter any good?
I've got a '95 GT and my girlfriend is getting ready to buy me a B&M short throw shifter. Has anyone ever had experience with this and what kind of performance will I notice. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me why it sucks? Also, does anyone have anything nice to say about B&M? I know they used this shifter in the '99 Cobra R. What about Steeda's? Pos. and neg.s please thanks.

The B&M feels really sloppy and is just not as high quality. The Steeda tri-ax is nice, tight and firm and short. It's very good for the price. IF you do it, you might as well do it right and go steeda or pro 5.0. Both are very good, but steeda is 30 bucks cheaper.

I'VE OWNED THE HURST,B&M,AND THE PRO 5.0 AND THE PRO 5.0 IS THE SHORTEST THROW. IT ALSO MAKES 2ND TO 3RD SHIFTS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS. I WOULD RECOMEND THE PRO 5.0 TO ANYONE.

B&M feels sloppy? I don't think so! I like mine very much, I don't miss third and I've got a mid 12 second car that has never needed tranny work. (12.62@110mph)
The B&M has a billet aluminum base and a hardened shifter handle. The stop bolts are the easiest to adjust and stay adjusted (unlike some others...)not to mention they're grade 8 bolts. Calling this low quality is just baffling... The B&M isn't quite as short of a throw as the Pro 5.0, but is angled toward the driver for a more cofortable position. swtstang: enlighten me as to what makes the Tri-Ax that much better? I got a b&m short throw sport shifter a couples weeks ago.It has very short throws, but it is very notchy and has a heavy feel to it.I only bought it because it is cheaper than the tri-ax and pro 5.0 and I am planning on getting a tremec trans in the near future. It's still a lot better than the stock one.

I didn't mean to bash the B&M ripper. It's just not my favorite. Every body has their own prefrence. I prefer the tri-ax. The best thing for you to do is to test them out on friends cars that have different ones. I have had a Hurst, and B&M, and now the Tri-ax. It just feels the best to me. THe Pro 5.0 is good too. I know where you can the tri-ax for 164 shipped to your door. If you interested let me know.

I had a B & M and it was awesome, very very high quality! But I was selling my car, so I sold it to a friend for $115. But now I'm keeping my car and I'm goig to buy the Pro 5.0. But the "Ripper" is an awesome shifter for the price, and if you order it threw summit youget afree knob.

I have a 95 GT and I also have the Pro 5.0 shifter in it. It gives me a very solid feeling and as said before, never miss a shift with it. I haven't tried the other shifters and I don't know the prices comparisons either but I know that I am extremely pleased with the Pro 5.0. As for not being comfortable as someone else said, having a 95 myself, I can tell you that there is nothing uncomfortable about it. It sits in perfect position.

I have B&M ripper. I like it alot. Much better than the Hurst I had. I think some people just like the Steeda name. Although I haven't had one to compare B&M to.

My B& M with a fat knob on it was sweet. And I've heard the Pro 5. is even shorter. So......=P

well, after visiting that poll on stangnet, it's kinda hard to decide. "swtstang", I might just be interested in that tri-ax for $164. Where could I get that at? Does anyone know where I can get a Pro 5.0 or Tri-ax for $150 or less? Thanks.
P.S. I never said I wasn't going to get the B&M tho. Just want to get the cheapest for the best perf. ------------------ Blueneonman - '95 5.0L Mustang GT Convertible | K&N Custom Cold Air Intake | FMS 9mm Wires | Hollow Cats | Flowmaster 2 Chambers | BBK Subframes | 6-pt Rollcage | King Cobra Clutch | FMS Adjustable Clutch Cable | Coolest Neon Lighting on a Mustang EVER! Just go with the Pro 5.0. My tri-ax shift handle busted off today while I was driving. Ever try to shift with the shattered end of a shift handle?

Your handle broke??? Damn you must be banging through the gears. YOu can get a replacement handle from Steeda. Blueonman-- email me if you want the tri ax. Pro 5.0 is good too, just more expensive. Good luck

I have the B&M as well, and I think it's great! No problems, and I haven't been easy on it! Good luck! Any aftermarket shifter is a VAST improvement over stock!
