Does 85 GT H.O. have 7.5 or 8.8 rear?
I thought that I had an 8.8 rear. But I stumbled upon a web sight today that said that they switched from the 7.5 rear to the 8.8 in 86. Can anybody clarify this.

All 85 and back had a 7.5 rear. Doesn't mean that someone didn't put a 8.8 in your car.

I don't think anyone changed the rear. Anyone know where I can get an 8.8 rear?

You could always buy a new ford racing one I think they are around $750. You also get to choose what gear you want 3.55, 3.73 or 4.10.

That sounds perfect. It would cost me 400 to put gears in anyways. Is the 8.8 for the 7.5 a direct swap?

Hmm, I didn't know that the 7.5" axles work in the 8.8" rear. Are they just as strong?
ya learn something everyday oh by the way, if you have a little more cash, then why not step up to some Moser axles for peace of mind? Im sure you can get the 8.8" rear with a 31 spline carrier for about the same price from ford, thats what comes in the F150s isnt it?
