Low Power between 1500-3500 RPM
I have a 90 LX that has low power response from 1500 to 3500 RPMs at WOT. 3500 on up she runs like a bat out of hell. The engine was freshened up 10,000 miles ago with new bearings, E303 cam, mild porting on the E7TE's, Typhoon intake ( Gasket matched),BBK 70 mm TB & Spacer, 73mm C&L mass air calibrated to the 19lb injectors, 160 degree T-stat, MAC Cold air induction kit, BBK adj. fuel reg set to 37psi, new MSD Blaster Coil, Mac 2.5" off-raod h-pipe, 2 chamber Flowmaster, stock headers, and 3.73 gears loaded into the rear. She has an AOD and runs great getting nearly 19 mpg as a daily driver but the power loss at the low end is driving me nuts...the spark plugs are clean and not showing any unusual burn patterns. I have not done any computer upgrades as of yet as I am unsure of what my best route to take on the chips as I still want to change heads and add a supercharger. Any ideas on how to straighten this out would be appreciated.

stock torque converter? if so then that why you have poor low end responce. all you mods moved your powerband up but the converter can't stall high enough now.

I did upgrade the torque convertor......I thought all of my components should have kept my power band in the 1500 to 5500 range though. I do have my timing at 15 degrees currently too. I could be wrong though

To me it sounds like the Cam was not installed straight up with the pistons and crank. For the heck of it turn your timing up by ear or go up another 4 degrees and see if it gets better just don't floor it because you might detonate if the cam is installed correctly.

The E cam and Thyphoon won't make power until then - I don't know if your sig is a typo, but 1,400 rpm stall is not near enough - neither is 2,400 IMHO. 2,800-3,000 is what you really need. Been there & done that.

Yes I did mistype my stall for my tranny....it is an 1800 stall. Guess I'll upgrade it as soon as I can scrape up some extra cash. Thanks for all the help guys!!

Re: Low Power between 1500-3500 RPM
When I had an AOD, I had the EXACT same motor except for a Hartman bread box intake and I used a 2400 stall from GER Performance transmissions and it worked great..Made a big difference in take off but kept the good MPG. No sh*t on the motor though, I had the exact same...gears and all!!! Best time I could post was a 9.18 in the 1/8th but I thought that was respectable for a 3640lb car with me in it!!
