Freakin' Bolts!
We've been trying to get the new tranny into my '93 for the last 3 sundays and we're still stuck at the bloody driveshaft bolts. (Sorry, \rant)
Everything else is off and ready to go, new quadrant and adjuster are in. Ive tried everything we can think to break these things loose and nothing worked. Is there something I'm missing, or were they just tightened too hard with an air wrench last clutch replacement? At this point I'm going to check into renting an airwrench and compressor to get the dang things loose. Anyone else have this problem? How'd you solve it? (Sorry folks, dumb post, but this has been tormenting me) J

yup, sure are.
Tried liquid wrench, breaker bar, improvised wrench extender, leg under the car on the wrench while pulling against the body, vise grips (for the one that stripped). What the heck do I have to do to get them loose? Yours in frustration, J

Well I would just zip em off with an impact. Otherwise you could try an impact driver if you can get one.

They are most likely lock tighted on. Which can make them a real *****. If you can get a impact thats your best bet. A electric impact may work too if you can get one. I have always just used a hell of a pipe on a big wrench and it breaks even the most stuck bolts loose, Leverage is your freind.

Yeah the torque spec for those bolts is like 80 ft lbs wich is pretty damn tight. If they are put on with loc tite they can be a real pain.
Try heating them up with a propane torch.

Yeah, but heat the flange up, not the bolts.

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to be checking at work tonight about renting an impact gun. I hadnt thought about heating the flange up, that may be another option.
We tried pipe leverage, but our working conditions dont allow enough room to get a long enough pipe into play. J

If you heat the flange up enough the bolts will come right out like a hot knife through butter
Be careful not to strip the bolts with the impact gun, it is hard to get in there enough to fully engage them.
