pick-up in the distributor?
is there a pick up in the distributor that tells the tfi mod. when to have the coil to fire? is it hard to change?

Yes, there's a pickup in the distributor. Not too hard to change, have to remove your distributor (mark first), take the distrubutor apart replace the pickup.

no it isn't hard to replace but I had to have the gear pressed off my dist. to get it apart.

I tried to get the gear off my dist with a gear puller. Yeah, that didn't work to well. Came off in pieces. Decided to replace the whole distributor cause the bearing was sloppy as hell which cause the metal teeth to collide with the pickup coil. That's why it stopped working in the first place.
