Stock pumps won't handle much over 50. You'd be OK for a very short time, so short in fact I wouldn't even try it.

Fuel pump is easy to do, it's in the gas tank. I don't know of any links, but a Chilton's manual will help you out. Not a bad job to do, some simple hand tools (you'll need the fuel line tools, borrow them from Autozone) a few beers, and a few hours is all you should need.

Here's how to change your fuel pump:

Support the tank with 2 jacks, one on each side. You want a tiny bit of upforce to relieve pressure on the strap bolts. It really helps to drive around until the tank is practically empty. A full gastank is HEAVY.

Follow the 2 straps back until you see the two bolts they use to hold up the tank. These and a little bit from the filler tube is all that holds the tank in place. It might take a breaker bar to remove them but do so and try to swing the straps out of the way so the tank doesnt land on them.

Go to the filler neck and you will see a little ring with a mounting point on the tank side. This is a filler tube support. Unbolt or saw off.

Lower the tank slowly. Now you will see a pair of wiring harnesses, one for the fuel level sender and the other for the pump. Disconnect these. You will also see 2 fittings on the top part of the hump. These are the fuel fittings. You will need to pull the snapclips out. They usually break but seem to continue working just fine if just slid in place and ziptied or taped. Some pump kits come with extra clips.

Now drop the tank. It will dangle by the filler neck so you need to slide it sideways to get it out.

Now look down at the top of the tank and you will see a circular part. There is a sliding metal ring with small tabes around the base of this circle. Screwdriver into the tab and hammer the back of the screwdriver CAREFULLY. This will usually be crazy stuck.

Now pull the assembly out, making sure not to knock the filter off on the bottom of the pump assembly. Unscrew pump, replace and lower it back in being sure to put the pump into the middle of the square baffle inside the tank. Sometimes this comes loose.

Now just reverse everything you did and you are all set!

Good luck!

Pete

Well done Pete! But you forgot the part "There is a sliding metal ring with small tabes around the base of this circle. Spray this ring down with PB Blaster, go have a beer, spray it again, and then.... Screwdriver into the tab and hammer the back of the screwdriver CAREFULLY.
