What shot of nitrous are you planning on using? (50,75,100,...)

First off, I ran the 150 shot of the wet nitrous system and my stock fuel pump worked just fine.
Secondly, you need to use a copper plugs(I personally like motorcraft ones) Third, the bottle warmer is a good idea, plus I like the remote bottle opener so i don't have to keep poping the hatch all the time to open the bottle. And if you are ever planning to go with a higher shot(150+) I would get a purge kit just to be safe. And lastly, I wouldn't worry about a 75 HP shot hurting the motor at all(as long as the person who installed it did it correctly). A stock motor in good condition can easly hold up to 150HP shot without causing damage if used PROPERLY. |

1 range colder plugs, 190 pump would be better to run as you won't have to worry in the future, retard the timing, and I'd recommend a bottle pressure gauge.

so the 155lph fuel pump is not stock? that is good then. i think i am going to hold off on the purge kit for now, too expensive. 1)also the pressure gauge i think i saw in the magazine for 15 bucks, does this sound right? 2)can anyone tell me the exact pkug to buy . i think if i remember correctly it was an autolite 24 gapped at .035! is this right? i am going to stay with the 75 shot. it gives a huge jump as it is. i dropped .7 in my other car. from a 14.2 to a 13.5 with no hook up. i hope to be in the mid-high 12's with it in this car! thanks

nitrous setup
Yeah, the 155lph is not stock. Stock is like 88lph or some where around there. So, like everyone else said, you'll be fine running the 155lph pump with just the 75hp. shot.
I believe the Autolite 24s are the correct ones. But I'd still take a look at the stock heat range and just go one step colder for the 75 shot, possibly 2 steps colder if you ever end up juicing up over a 100hp shot. Yesh, gap them at .035 for the nitrous. But I've been told that you can open them up to .040-.045 if you have a decent aftermarket iginition system...which it looks like you do, running the Jacobs. And put the timing on 10btdc just to be safe. But again, with just the 75 shot you could probably get away with even 12 or 13 degrees. It's all about trial & error...see what works for you and what doesn't. But when playing with nitrous, I just always make sure I have everything within the "safe range"...plug gap & heat range, timing, bottle pressure, etc. It's only once you get up around a 125-150hp shot, that you'll want to add an inline fuel pump like the tried and true T-Rex pump or something similar. I run a similar pump from MSD. You need more fuel volume and not just the pressure to compinsate for the incoming nitrous and extreme boost in fuel pressure over the duration of a full 1/4 mile run. Good luck and let us know what you run! Last edited by Simi Stang; 06-16-2003 at 07:23 PM.. |
